My Williams family moved from DeKalb Co., Tennessee before the Civil War and settled in the community of Greer in Oregon County, Missouri. They moved from Edgecombe / Nash Co., North Carolina to Smith / DeKalb Co., Tennessee in about 1803. They intermarried with the Braswell family earlier in North Carolina and Braswells were still part of the extended family as they moved to Missouri.
